Conservative Christian Music Resources

cd casesWe are very conservative with our music; we enjoy classical, sacred, and some folk. This does tend to limit the buying of cds because we can’t just bop down to Target or Wal-mart and buy a new one. However, my husband and I have a good sized collection of approx. 150 cds that we have built up over the years. A friend asked about where we buy cds and I compiled a list of online sources. I thought that some of you might like to know about these resources.

My disclaimer: I’m not blanket endorsing everything on all of these sites. You are responsible for your own choices. If you have questions about specific ones feel free to ask me. These are listed in no specific order – not even alphabetically!

If you use mp3s you have a bit of an advantage because you don’t have to pay shipping and you get instant access to the music. It can be especially nice for Christmas music on Amazon because you can preview the song and choose what specific track you want.

Conservative Christian Music mp3s

  • Sacred Audio - “conservative Christian music and more”
  • Majesty Tunes - “sacred music downloads you can trust” This has Patch the Pirate.

If you want real cds you can find music you like on sacred audio and then search for the artist through Google. That usually gets you to their site or a place to buy their cd.

Once again – this post is not a blanket endorsement of everything these sites sell. My husband and I believe that Godly music is very important – in our church and our lives. Please take care with what you are letting permeate your home.

Jendi – clue me in – lol! What is conservative Christian music? I’ve never heard this term before. I’ve heard of contemporary Christian music. And do you listen to anything you and your kids can dance to, since you mentioned bopping?

LOL – somehow I knew you would comment. :) Conservative Christian music is not contemporary – does that help? hee-hee We try to avoid music with a rock beat – which is emphasis on the 2nd & 4th beat instead of the 1st & 3rd. Does it make you want to sway your hips or march with your feet? Moving on…

My girls will dance to anything – yesterday it was Barbie & the Nutcracker. :) We have had some rousing sessions [in our home] to Strauss, marches or folk songs. Think more along the lines of American folk dances.

      Hope that helps.

I never noticed – maybe because when the emphasis is on the 2nd and 4th beat some people clap on the 1st and 3rd beat – lol! Why do you try to avoid music with a rock beat? It’s fun – lol! The girls have Wii Dance for Kids and Colby has names for the songs and tells them which ones he wants on. One day he had the game and the remote out walking around the house looking for someone to put it on for him – cute!

I use the lyrics and meaning of songs to see if they’re appropriate for the kids but I never thought of listening to the beat – I’m not sure my brain works that way – lol!
