Last Friday my husband went to a Pastor’s Fellowship [no, he’s not a Pastor – his dad is]. He brought back a cd as a surprise for me!
It’s called If Eyes Could See by the Steve Petit Evangelistic Team . We have listened to a couple of their cd’s that a friend of ours owns and like them. [I copied a couple songs to my iPod – shh, don’t tell.] This is the first one that we bought.
Overall I like it. When we first started playing the cd the intro to the first song really struck both of us as having a “new age” sound. It was okay when the vocals started.
I personally like the songs that have more of an Irish sound.
Another pet peeve of mine is when arrangers take the words from old familiar hymns and put different music to it. There’s nothing wrong with it and some of the songs are beautiful; it’s just I’d rather have a totally new song. I do know it’s easier for most musicians to write a tune than to write lyrics. They have done that a couple times on this cd.
I like the way that they arrange the male/female duets.
My favorite on this cd is the song Return to me.
Again, it’s a nice cd with a good mixture of vocals and intrumentals. I’m glad for my present!
