The writing style of Robin Jones Gunn is excellent in her book Engaging Father Christmas.
I did find the plot a bit weak. It is a sugary-sweet story where everything works out just so.
Miranda is engaged to a perfect English man who seems to do nothing wrong. She herself is loving and forgiving while she thinks back to the previous book and the changes that happened to her a year ago.
Within a couple days minor problems pop up and are swiftly dealt with while the characters enjoy a merry Christmas time in Carlton Heath.
