First Disney World Trip For Me And My Kids

I was honored to be one of the bloggers selected to receive an invitation to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. We had actually been invited last year, but couldn’t make it work since we had recently bought this house. We knew that we wanted to go this year if at all possible – and it was!

It’s all clear now, right? LOL You want to know more? Disney invites social media moms to come learn about the park and bus and offers a discounted price that includes a conference day, tickets to the parks, 3 nights in one of their hotels, and some meals. We have to take care of travel, supplies, and any other food we want.

It started Thursday night with a reception where I got to say hello to many blogger friends – so fun! The room we were in had beautiful chandeliers. I’m in the front left of this photo; the one with her elbows up in the air. I have no clue what I was doing. Probably pushing my hair back – I don’t know – it looks weird; but that’s me.

Last Chance for Justice by Kathi Macias | Book Review

Last Chance for Justice: A Bloomfield Novel is a down home story that gives the perspective from two generations – Lynn and her daughter Rachel. It’s not confusing when it switches voices; I always knew who was talking. It also talked about a lot of people in the town of Bloomfield without me having to try to remember who was who or being repetitive. I love the addition of the dog. I feel like I should warn you that they talk about food and eating a lot; it kind of made me hungry.

I’m not sure what the main story line is. Part of the story is about the mother, Lynn, going back to her hometown and dealing with peer pressure. It’s also about the daughter, Rachel, figuring out what to do with her life. The story is also about figuring out the mystery of a boy that died with a bad reputation that just didn’t fit with the rest of his life. Throw in a lot of small town characteristics and a small dash of romance and you’ll just about have it. I really like that they talk about praying about things and figuring out what the Lord wants them to do.

Darkness Before Dawn By Ace Collins | Book Review

I signed up to read Darkness Before Dawn as soon as I saw the author’s name and didn’t evaluate it by the description. I really enjoyed his previous books that I’ve read. I thought I would enjoy this one as well but I was a bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong – it’s still a good book; but if I would have evaluated the description without knowing the author I probably would not have read it.

It could easily be a true story. The characters are true to life and react in real ways. The main story is about revenge. I guess I should say instead that it’s about the power of God’s love who doesn’t give up on His loved ones. It’s about the testimony of a Christian in hard times breaking through the bitterness of another Christian that turned her back on God. Still, the heroine is bitter, hard, and vengeful so it wasn’t pleasant reading.

The setting for the story is well done. The hospital is such a good place for the character and the interactions that take place. I like the way that it’s made apparent that there are hurts, troubles, trials, and scars in many people’s lives. They choose to handle them different ways. Some ways are good from the start, others bad; and some – like this heroine – have to work through the bad ways before they learn to handle it in a good way.

Quotes About Mothers

mother and daughter

Abraham Lincoln: “All that I am or hope to be I owe to my angel mother.”

John Wesley: ” My mother was the source from which I derived the guiding principles of my life.”

Booker T. Washington: “In all my efforts to learn to read, my mother shared fully my ambition and sympathized with me and aided me in every way she could. If I have done anything in life worth attention, I feel sure that inherited the disposition from my mother.”

Gluten Free Bread We Liked And Didn’t Like

udi's gluten free breadLiterally every day last week I opened up a blank post for this blog and sat down to write about Udi’s Gluten Free Bread. As you know, I didn’t publish it last week – when I was supposed to. Why didn’t I finish the review?! I don’t know. My guess is that I felt like I hadn’t done enough for the review. I lost the picture I took, and didn’t create anything new or exciting.

Here’s what happened. We were excited to get this box of bread from Udi’s. We sat it on the table and went about our lives. A day later we ran out of bread from the cupboard and when my children started whining about it [whining is so annoying, isn't it?!] I stated, “We have a whole box of bread right here!

I made some regular grilled cheese sandwiches, we ate it as toast, and as regular sandwiches. The whole wheat bread and the white sandwich bread were the first ones to go. The Omega flax & fiber bread was ok, but I couldn’t handle the Millet-Chia bread. The hamburger buns were excellent!
