Sunday Poem ~ Small Valentines

Something sticky this way comes;
I feel the prickling in my thumbs,
Syrupy verse or even worse,
Chocolate,waxed and runny.
Something sticky this way comes
With tattered lace or grimy crumbs,
Elastic sweets or homemade treats,
Hidden in a pocket.
Something sticky this way comes,
Love smeared with candied mediums,
A tiny face, where one can trace
Uncomplicated giving.

The Night After Christmas

And all through the house there’s still no one stirring.  We’re a lazy house.
And oh boy does it feel nice!  I can’t remember the last time I’ve had such a lazy day when I wasn’t sick.  I ran the washer and dryer, and plan to run the vacuum later, but that’s about it.  We’re eating [...]

The Nativity Set Up

All my life I’ve heard that there is no mention of the drummer boy in the Bible and that we don’t know for sure that there were 3 wise men.  We know there was more than one because it says men and we guess that there were 3 because there were 3 presents mentioned.  But [...]

A Little Christmas

This year just seems busy to me.  How is it for you? Christmas seems to be coming at a rapid pace. Wasn’t it just the Fourth of July?
We had great fun getting and decorating our tree.  Yes, it is live and it takes pills.  I’m not sure if they’re for stress or what, but they [...]

Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

So what if it’s almost all melted away.  It was so-o pretty!  I’m glad I filmed a bit of it to share with you.

Happy Veterans Day!

This video made me cry — proud and sad at the same time — and I didn’t even know those brave Marines.  I agree that the young generation has what it takes!

I Remember 9-11

Today we have off school for Patriot Day.  That meant a little bit of teaching so my children would understand what the day is about.  I found tears welling up in my eyes as I showed them video footage and tried to explain what happened.
My 5 year old daughter immediately asked if there were children [...]

Sunday Poem ~ A Nation’s Strength

Not gold, but only man can make
A people great and strong;
Men who, for truth and honor’s sake,
Stand fast and suffer long.
Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly –
They build a nation’s pillars deep
And lift them to the sky.

A big thank you from our house to anyone in the military and their families!
