I Love Old Musicals

Here’s another video clip from a musical.
It’s schulmtzy, kind of silly, and makes me smile.

I used this song for a routine in high school gym class.
Looking back I laugh at how silly I was.
I practiced looking like I was falling and (poorly) borrowed some of Astaire’s moves.
It was great fun even if I was “kin to nincompoops”!

Here’s Fred Astaire and Vera-Ellen from the movie The Belle of New York dancing to My Heart Went Whoops.

Music To My Ears

My little sopranos singing Luke 16:10

The 2yo is first and when she drops out the 4 yo finishes the song.

I Thought It Would Stay Quiet

See anything missing on this bugle?

Yup, the mouthpiece.  Sorry, no prize for right guesses.

My 5 yo son was pretending he was the calvary.  When he “came home” for supper the mouthpiece was missing.

Of course he has no idea where he lost it, and he was only on about 5 acres of ground.

Calvary charges don’t happen in small areas you know.

Our search did not uncover the vital missing piece.  I was upset, yet relieved.  Guess he can’t play it now.

I recorded some of his “songs.” Listen at your own risk.

My son, the bugler

So, my quandry is this…Get rid of the bugle or get another mouthpiece?

Hold on…

While I had the bugle out to take pictures of it my son figured out that he could make “music” without the mouthpiece.

I told him to take it outside.  After all, he can’t lose another piece off it.

Charge!

Songs With Sing or Song

Arranging music is one of my most favorite things. I love to take a couple songs and put them together, or a couple instruments together for one song.

I don’t know if my arrangements are any good, but it’s fun to do.

So this video clip combining a medley, and Julie Andrews, is great fun – even though the wardrobe is dated.

Sunday Song ~ I Am With Thee

Lily by Michael Banks

I walked thru a valley so dark and so low,
The sun did not shine there, but a lily did grow;
I cried to my Fa-ther, “How can this be?”
He said, “Can’t you see, child? I am with thee!”

Chorus:
I am with thee; I am with thee!
Thru the fire, thru the flood
You are covered by the blood;
For I am with thee!

I climbed up the mountain till I reached the top,
And there sprang a fountain in a dry, barren spot;
Again my heart questioned;
My eyes could not see,
Again Jesus whispered, “I am with thee!”

Chorus:
I am with thee; I am with thee!
Thru the fire, thru the flood
You are covered by the blood;
For I am with thee!
