What is home without a Bible?
‘Tis a place where day is night,
For o’er life’s beclouded pathway
Heaven can shed no kindly light.
What is home without a Bible?
‘Tis a place where daily bread
For the body is provided,
But the soul is never fed.
What is home without a Bible?
‘Tis a vessel on the sea,
Compass lost and rudder broken,
Drifting, drifting, [...]

While reading the April 08 update letter from Christian law association I saw this quote:
I firmly believe that every person or ministry is either moving forward for God or sliding backwards. There is no such thing as sitting still when you are in the Lord’s work.
~ David C. Gibbs, Jr.
May I always be [...]

I had my country on my mind as I read these verses recently.
Proverbs 1:32-33 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
America has prospered and turned away. [...]

He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Every Christian wants to evade the Devil’s snares and traps, right? An evangelist that was at my church recently told us how to do just that.
Let’s say the Devil’s trap is a net and the Christian is the bird in the following verse.
Prov 1:17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the [...]

We found a good church to go to on our recent trip to Arizona. It was probably the best “vacation church” that we’ve been to.
The Sunday evening message was titled Propped Up or Planted, and it’s really stuck in my mind.
The Pastor mentioned Demas, Paul’s helper…
Philemon 1:24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
…who [...]

Once a month I play the piano in the Alzheimer’s unit of a local nursing home. This past Monday the lady that sat on my right sang almost every song I played. If she didn’t know the words she would hum along. I always enjoy hearing them sing or hum along.
While [...]

I read the following sentence in a magazine a couple months ago:
Churchgoers are among the people most likely to forgive.
Um, yeah. That’s a no-brainer.
Some of the facts about forgiveness that I did find interesting were:
It lowers your blood pressure and helps your heart.
You will be more self confident.
You’ll have less aches and pains; [...]
