Days Without The Son Are Sad Days

light on bibleI love sunshine. I love to wake up with sunshine on my bed. For almost 3 years I lived in a basement apartment with no windows in my bedroom. It was hard to get up in the morning when there were no windows to let in the light. I started to crave the sunlight and have side effects from missing it – whether real or brought on by myself I don’t know; but it was a struggle.

Sunday Poem | How To Forget

sky view of city

If you were busy being kind,
Before you knew it, you would find
You’d soon forget to think ’twas true
That someone was unkind to you.

If you were busy being glad
And cheering people who are sad,
Although your heart might ache a bit,
You’d soon forget to notice it.

If you were busy doing good,
And doing just the best you could,
You’d not have time to blame some man
Who’s doing just the best he can.

If you were busy being right,
You’d find yourself too busy quite
To criticize your neighbor long
Because he’s busy being wrong.

It isn’t fair for that little baby boy to have died. I watched him during church, held, fed, rocked, and played with him; and now he’s gone to Heaven before his first birthday.

Is Your Life Splashing Over?

swimming poolAs I sit and watch my kids swim in the pool I notice that the water splashes over the sides. That’s expected to happen when they are going after each other or jumping into the pool, but it happens when they are just swimming and kicking their way around the pool. The pool is full enough that it’s not hard for the water to splash out. A natural result of being beside a full pool is water drops landing on you.

Then I wonder if my spiritual tank is full. Does it naturally splash on to the people around me? Or is it so low that people can be next to me and not notice that I love Christ?

Three main things that keep my spiritual tank full are Bible reading, prayer, and church attendance. Others that help are good music, outreach, and fellowship with other Christians. What fills your spiritual tank?

Quiet Time In Asheville

I enjoy meeting new people and interacting at conferences, but I need time alone – totally alone – to recharge. If not…I’m a terrible grump. This was a park we found when we were in North Carolina.
