How A Christian’s Life Is Like A Rosebush

rose bushesThe rose bush starts out pruned, cleaned, and beautiful at the store. Wherever it was before is forgotten. It might have been in a pristine environment or in a weedy field, but the new owner just sees it as a new plant. It usually has a lot of growing to do, and in the beginning will need a lot of care.

I became a new person when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. He forgot all my sins. With care I started growing in my new life as a Christian.

The Thought That Helps Me Do Right

A week and a half ago we had a young evangelist preach at our church. His message really made me think – and continue thinking a week and a half later. He said something like this:

We know that the Devil wants to hurt and hinder us and pull us over the edge. So why do we walk right up to the edge and look in? Why do we get as close as we can to the wrong thing if we know that it is there to hurt us?

It made instant sense to me. If the water on the stove is bubbling I don’t stick my finger in to see if it’s hot. If there is ice on the metal pole I don’t lick it to see if it is cold. If God’s Word warns me to stay away from something why do I get as close as possible?

Unexpected Result of Daily Video Blogs

questionsDuring March Vlogging Madness I received 3 serious questions about my faith and beliefs. That’s something that has not happened in almost 4 years of blogging. They were nice questions, good questions, ones I didn’t mind answering; not mean spirited at all.

I’m not on the internet to win the world to Christ. Obviously my faith shows because it is a major part of who I am, and I’m not going to hide my light. Some people do use the world wide web as a major witnessing tool, and that’s fine; but that’s not my blogging goal. I participate in activities in real life that focus on spreading the gospel.

I’m not even sure why I’m sharing this with you. Maybe because it was a small surprise to me. Some things became more apparent in my daily videos that are not noticed as much through my writing.

Did I or will I change anything? Nope. However, it does remind me that my life is a testimony online and off. You know the old saying, “Actions speak louder than words.” Videos show action.

What Makes Your Busy More Important?

Growing up I often heard my dad say, “People have money for what they want to have money for.” I’ve decided to adapt that saying to, “People have time for what they want to have time for.”

Everybody is busy. I get it.

However, what makes your busy schedule more important than mine? What makes my busy schedule more important than yours?

I submit to you that it is selfishness that makes my “busyness” trump yours. When I look at

  • what I have to get done,
  • what I have to do,
  • where I have to be,
  • who I have to feed,
  • what I have to pay, etc.

my busy schedule becomes the most important thing.
