The area of Southern PA I grew up in wasn’t very familiar with fried dough. My in-laws brought their love of fried dough with them from NY and started an annual tradition of making large amounts of it for the church Christmas party.
Overall, it is very simple to make. It does require preparation of the dough and a lot of smelly oil for cooking. My favorite way to eat it is with confectioner’s sugar; my husband loves to stuff some dough with meat and cheese before frying and then eat it with sauce. My kids eat it all the ways!
