Harvest Time

Thanks for visiting! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed by the links in the far right sidebar.

I officially have a case of “bean snapping finger.” Yep, my hubby and I snapped beans yesterday. DH spent about an hour on Wednesday picking a little less than a bushel of beans (the bushel basket above was almost full when we started). Then we snapped them Thursday morning removing the ends and breaking the larger beans in half.

This is our second harvest from the farm bean garden of about 250 plants. Yeah, that’s a lot of bean plants. And a lot of bean plants produce a lot of beans. =) In fact, DH plans to pick more tomorrow. Sigh. My poor finger.

What will we do with the beans? My mother-in-law cans most of the harvest and the jars of beans are stored in the cellar house under their front porch. I personally prefer frozen beans, so I’ll probably freeze a couple of bags for our use throughout the winter.
