The May 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping included the following quote. [Please keep in mind that I’m not endorsing the magazine, the speaker, or the movie mentioned.]
Before Charlie’s Angels, I never exercised. I always associated it with pain and discomfort. Then, for the movie, we worked out eight hours a day, five days a week, for 3 months, and I learned to be strong. Now that I know how that feels, I never want to be too far away from it. ~Cameron Diaz
I understand what she is saying. It feels good to be strong, to be healthy, to be able to do physical things. It made the exercise worth it.
This is the analogy that I thought of when I read that quote. Hope it makes sense to you.
Don’t associate Bible reading and prayer with thoughts like “boring, not enough time, can’t understand, heard it before, rather do other things.” Instead think of the wonderful feelings of peace and closeness with the Lord that result from exercising your spiritual muscles. Learn to be strong in the Lord. You’ll never want to be too far away from Him!
