Social Media Commerce For Dummies seems geared to small brick and mortar businesses that want to get started online. It gives an overview of all the basics. This book is for you if you are an experienced business owner looking to expand your customer base through the internet, but not sure what you should do online. This book gives the steps toward building a solid foundation for your online community and customer outreach.
After following the tips in this book it would be a good idea to move on to other For Dummies books that go into more specifics on the same topic. An example is that Chapter 14 of this book is “Monitoring Your Online Reputation” and it gives good information to start with. Then you could read the whole book about Online Reputation Management for even more information.
This one just didn’t seem as in-depth to me and there could be several reasons for that. 1. I’ve been dealing with social media for years. 2. There is so much to cover under the name “social media” that I have no idea how a book could cover it all in depth. 3. I am not the target market since the majority of my dealings are only online. The thing I did enjoy about this book is the many case studies as well as real facts and figures that she included – failures to learn from and success stories to emulate.
