Bless the Lord, O My Soul

Thankful Thursday is hosted by Iris at Sting My Heart.

My list for this week includes, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Two more towel racks in the bathroom. [Can you ever have too many towel racks?]
  2. The fragrance and taste of wild honeysuckle.
  3. A new toaster. [I was getting quite adept at holding the lever down with one hand while pouring milk & cereal with the other hand.]
  4. Books and libraries.
  5. A healthy family. [Back in flu season it seemed like never again would we all be healthy at one time.]
  6. My maidservants otherwise known as Ms. Washer and Ms. Dryer.
  7. For God’s comfort that the righteous will not go hungry. Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

I Found Another Blog Carnival

I found this carnival through Daily Provision. To visit the main site or to join the Mr. Linky just click on the graphic.

Here’s a quote from the Carnival Info page written by Iris:

Why be thankful on Thursdays? We tend to just give thanks on Thanksgiving; why not share your blessings on a weekly basis with us? You don’t have to participate every week; do it as often as you can. The road of life is hard, let us count our blessings as we travel this road…

Today I’m Thankful For…

  1. air conditioning!
  2. my children and for the chance to ship them to Grandma’s for several hours.
  3. paper plates. ‘Nough said.
  4. a good God who hears my prayers and knows what is best for me.
  5. phone calls from my hubby.
  6. ring bologna and sharp cheddar cheese.
  7. Blog friends and Blog fun.

Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 100:3-5 KJV

Mixed Up Lyrics Made Me Think

Old Rugged CrossOnce a month I play the piano in the Alzheimer’s unit of a local nursing home. This past Monday the lady that sat on my right sang almost every song I played. If she didn’t know the words she would hum along. I always enjoy hearing them sing or hum along.

While I was playing the following song she replaced the word “trophies” with “sorrows.”

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

It was just an honest mistake. It made me think how glad I will be to not have any sorrows in Heaven.

Then I thought about the fact that I can give my sorrows to the Lord now.

The trickiest part for me is not taking them back after I have given them to Him.

Comfort in Prayer Chain

We are preparing for evangelistic meetings at our church. The meetings will be next week Sunday – Friday.

This week we have around the clock prayers for the meetings and people that have been invited. Someone is praying each hour around the clock. We don’t have to pray for the whole hour; just sometime during our hour.

It’s interesting to me how many times I’ve thought of this “prayer chain” during the day and night. It feels like there is more of a bond with the other members, and I like it.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:19

When I’m up at 2:30am with a fussy baby it’s nice to think that one of my fellow church members was up in that hour too. ;-)

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16b
