A Black Bear Visited Our Camp

There were a total of 9 bears sighted during our week at church camp this year. Two black males, a brown mama with 2 cubs, and a black mama with 3 cubs.

I googled the question, “how many cubs does a black bear have” and found out that 3 is typical for Pennsylvania. The number of baby cubs depends on how much food the mama bear gets in the fall. From what I read the black bears in Arkansas typically have 1 cub but the bears in PA often have 3 and can have up to 5 cubs.

The most frequent visitor was a black bear with her 3 cubs. Here’s some video I took of them. [Read more...]

I’m Going To Camp

I’ll be offline for a week. No cell phone signal and definitely no internet. I’ll miss you.

Last year I had everything organized with some great guest posts, etc. Not this year. I’ll be back next week.

Instead of being a camp counselor I will be working in the kitchen.

If you want to know about my week as a camp counselor I have a video. I’m taking my camera again this year and will try to get some more video.

I wrote about farther back than last year in this post about Church Camp Memories.

Guest Posts Next Week

Next week I will be staying in a cabin with about 7 girls.  That’s right.  I’m going to camp.  My biggest worry right now is if I can survive a week without internet access. Pray for me! ;)

I’m excited to present some guests posting here next week!  Some from friends I’ve known online for a while, and some from new online friends.  Please come back next week and make them feel welcome.

The words will be theirs.  The pictures will be from past years at the camp where I’ll be.

Should I make some vlogs while I’m there if I get a chance?  Would you be interested in seeing a sweaty, tired me?

Through My Husband’s Camera Lens

Recently I’ve been working on some promotional materials for our church camp.  This required going through last year’s pictures.  There were kids unloading bags and playing kickball.  Then there was this picture:Birds are one of my favorite animals.  The interesting thing is…I wasn’t at camp last year.  All of the pictures were taken by my husband.

There were pictures of the water slide.  Kids zooming down and climbing back up.  Then there was this picture:

I’m usually the one that says, “Sweetheart, take a picture of that flower, or rock, or interesting scenery.”  He rolls his eyes and takes the picture.  I was pleasantly surprised to see this next picture tucked in between pictures of boys dressed in camo with their faces painted for paintball.

I think maybe I’m rubbing off on him.  He’ll read this and give me some sarcastic retort, I’m sure.  I was glad to see glimpses of the beauty amidst the wet, smelly, camp kids. :)

And, yes, I know that this post is remotely similar to Pioneer Woman’s, but my pictures don’t have any horses, or cows, or witty commentary, or cowgirls, or trucks, or near as many readers.  Plus, the camera is his – not mine – and he knows how to use it much better than I do.  Okay, maybe it’s not similar at all.
