Unwrapping the World of Words

I was wracking my brain to think of something for Emily’s Tuesdays Unwrapped. Then I gave myself a mental kick because it’s not supposed to be something special.  It’s supposed to be something ordinary that is good; something good that is overlooked because it is normal.  As soon as I was done kicking myself I knew what I could write about.  Yesterday morning.

Tuesdays unwrapped

All 5 of us were out of bed before Daddy went to work so everyone got their hugs and kisses.  It was one of those nice mornings when my kids actually got along and hadn’t bruised each other, or themselves.  As I sat down to read my Bible they each grabbed a book and sat on the couch beside me.  Beside me is key here – much nicer than on top of me.

After I finished my reading we naturally and easily cuddled together with their books.  For that short time I enjoyed their questions and proclamations without dwelling on the baskets of laundry, the schooling, the meal planning and grocery shopping.  For a short time we just held down the couch and enjoyed the books and each other.

Everyone is invited to join in the Tuesdays Unwrapped carnival.  You can find the link-up here.

Will I Ever Look Like I’m Organized?

If you are here from the carnival – welcome!
A lot of you are not in my regular blog circle and I’m excited to make new online friends.  (Never thought I’d say that!)
I stumbled across the last carnival after it was done and enjoyed your videos.

Edited to add: I’m seriously outclassed. Some of you are vlogging pros!

So, here’s my vlog for today.
If you are a glutton for punishment and want to see more of me on video just visit my Video page.

I’m sorry about the brightness. It didn’t show that bad in the little camera screen and I had everything put away when I saw it on the computer. I really do have two sides to my face.  I was just too lazy to do it all over again.

[To my husband - don't bother watching it. It's horrible.]

Thankful We Have Plenty

Some days I just need to get back to basics and remember to be thankful.  In other words, the blog post I was planning to write flew out of my head and I remembered that XBOX wife has this carnival on Tuesdays.

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

Right now I praise the Lord for..

  1. this beautiful fall day with plenty of sunshine.
  2. our friends that get together with us Sunday nights after church and make music.
  3. an evangelist and his wife that were in the area for about a week.  They are always such an encouragement.
  4. library story time.  I can sneak in a brief time period to just browse the shelves by myself.
  5. my iPod. When I can’t stand to hear the children’s cd one more time I can put my headphones on and listen to my favorite music.
  6. my husband’s job.
  7. my parent’s safety traveling across the ocean and back.
  8. the toys that cover the floor and the clothes that cover the bed.  We have plenty.
  9. my five senses that work well.
  10. His greatness. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.  Psalm 48:1

I Found Another Blog Carnival

I found this carnival through Daily Provision. To visit the main site or to join the Mr. Linky just click on the graphic.

Here’s a quote from the Carnival Info page written by Iris:

Why be thankful on Thursdays? We tend to just give thanks on Thanksgiving; why not share your blessings on a weekly basis with us? You don’t have to participate every week; do it as often as you can. The road of life is hard, let us count our blessings as we travel this road…

Today I’m Thankful For…

  1. air conditioning!
  2. my children and for the chance to ship them to Grandma’s for several hours.
  3. paper plates. ‘Nough said.
  4. a good God who hears my prayers and knows what is best for me.
  5. phone calls from my hubby.
  6. ring bologna and sharp cheddar cheese.
  7. Blog friends and Blog fun.

Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 100:3-5 KJV

Finally Vacuumed The Truck

So, what is it about blogging that makes people tell the whole world weird things? And even more importantly, why do other people read it?

I really can’t say much because I’m in both those categories.

When I read about Shannon’s carnival I thought, “Why not? The Suburban needs cleaned anyways.”

So here is the list of what I removed from our family truck.

  1. Pencil – still sharpened amazingly.
  2. Clifford ball cap
  3. 3 empty drink bottles – from this very afternoon, really.
  4. Dishcloth – doesn’t everyone keep one in their vehicle?
  5. 2 blank and empty CD cases – about these I have no clue.
  6. 3 empty plastic bags – from 3 different stores even.
  7. 1 empty bread bag and the twisty to close it
  8. 1 used tissue
  9. 1 used napkin
  10. Parking ticket from the Farm Show
  11. Little girls white barrette
  12. 2 unopened straws – they were quite bent.
  13. Date card from inside a library book due back Mar 27 – no book though.
  14. Little girls headband – obviously things come off my children’s heads during car rides.
  15. Empty key chain – this one is my fault, I remember switching keys.
  16. Papers including a shopping list, gas receipt and directions; even 7 sheets of blank copier paper.
  17. Lollipop stick

These things stayed in the truck. I didn’t include the glove box or storage compartment between the front seats.

  1. Stroller – necessity.
  2. Umbrella – goes without saying.
  3. Ice Scraper and Brush – if it stays in year round we know where to find it.
  4. Small air compressor
  5. 2 board books
  6. My sunglasses and 3 children’s sunglasses.
  7. Mint gum – yet to be chewed.
  8. Pair of black gloves – for working? I’m actually not sure whose they are or what they are from so I stuffed them back under the seat.

There you have it. Whether you wanted to or not.

There wasn’t anything too gross. That’s one prize I’ll gladly take a pass for.
