Why Are Adults So Slow?
The Nativity Set Up
All my life I’ve heard that there is no mention of the drummer boy in the Bible and that we don’t know for sure that there were 3 wise men. We know there was more than one because it says men and we guess that there were 3 because there were 3 presents mentioned. But maybe 2 of them went together on a present; or maybe one man brought 2 presents. We do know that the wise men didn’t go to the manger; they went to a house. [Matt 2:11] So why are either of these included in manger scenes? [Read more...]
A Little Christmas
This year just seems busy to me. How is it for you? Christmas seems to be coming at a rapid pace. Wasn’t it just the Fourth of July?
We had great fun getting and decorating our tree. Yes, it is live and it takes pills. I’m not sure if they’re for stress or what, but they make the tree last longer. Kind of like vitamins for trees, I guess. Maybe it’s more of a pain relief for dying trees, because it’s got about a month to live.

It only took two evenings to finish the tree. That includes the rolls of wrapping paper under it. We’re so-o classy, ya know. I hung a wreath, taped some cards to the wall, and – my favorite part – set up the nativity. And yes, that’s a piece of tape holding Joseph up. Classy, ya know.
After that I looked at the boxes of decorations for 3 more days before I just put them away. This year I’d rather spend the time and energy on something else. I’m having great fun with Christmas without extra trappings and stressing over making everything just so.
It’s much easier to go look at everybody else’s decorations. You comin?
If you want to know more about me and Christmas I answered a list of Christmas questions in 2007.
Merry Christmas!
Sunday Poem ~ Hold His Birthday Dear
Dear God, one day is far too short
To mark the birthday of your Son.
The sounds of bells and carols fade,
And even the tallest tapers run
Their lovely course of light. The tree
Has had its hour, and time is swift.
Is Christmas Day now ended? No,
It lasts as long as spirits lift
In joy at mention of His name
Or kindness rules because of Him,
As long as words spread warmth or smiles
Bring sun to places shadow-dim.
Dear God, we hold His birthday dear;
It lives in hearts through all the year!
