When I’m preparing for a trip I make lists and piles like so:

Stormy the cat was tired.   Unfortunately this is where she choose to sleep:

Clothes Advice Needed

There are at least 200 women registered for the Blissdom Conference.
I don’t want to stand out for being best dressed or worst dressed.  I just want to kind of blend in.

Clothes is not one of my passions.  I have never followed fashion.  I’m a follower of comfort.

So when Sarah from Real Life blog suggested a video carnival I decided to join in.

I know I said six outfits, but it’s really only five.  I was tired! It’s not every night that I’m down in the basement at 11:00pm changing clothes.

First Outfit – pink & brown – too casual?

Second Outfit – too teacherish? – boots or shoes?

Purple top, but which black skirt?

Maroon outfit – I think I’m ruling this one out.

Blue Outfit – maybe wear black shoes with strap instead of pumps?

So, help me out…please!
Are they all too fancy? too casual? Should I scrap the lot of them?

Little Pink Skirt, How I Loved Thee

When I was seven years old my Mom made me a pink skirt that I loved, but she had to change the design when I stained it.

My pink skirt was corduroy, brand new for me, and nobody else had one like it.  The most exciting thing was that it was straighter than my other skirts.  A straight skirt was more like an older girl’s skirt.  More like my older sisters.  Big stuff.

I proudly wore it to church.

One of the earliest times I wore it we had communion.

I spilled the dark purple grape juice on my new pink skirt.  Right in the front.

I. was. devastated.  I hung around downstairs after church so not too many people would see and slunk out to the car quickly when it was time to go home.

Someone made the comment “At least you didn’t spill it on the carpet,” but that didn’t make me feel better.  Who cared about the carpet?  My new skirt had an ugly purple stain right in the front.

My mom got as much of the stain out as she could.  Then she sewed a ruffle around the bottom to hide the rest of the stain.

I never loved it as much after that, and I always wondered if people remembered why it had a ruffle.

There I am in June, with front teeth again.  It was demoted to a play skirt by that time.

That was the only time in my life I have ever spilled the grape juice, and I still think of it every time I take communion.

How ’bout you?  Did you ever spill the grape juice during communion?

WW ~ Little Laundress

It’s fun to throw things into water isn’t it?

It’s even more fun to be helping Mommy when you do it.

Guess some things have been the same for ages.

Washing Day by Pierre Edouard Frere

I am glad washing machines have changed. ;)

I Always Liked Matching Clothes

The challenge: Make 3 pairs of culottes for my 3 yo, 2yo, and I with 3 yards of material.

The verdict: After an hour and a half of trying 3 different patterns…and lots of sighing…it just couldn’t be done.

The resolution: Make a skirt for me and culottes for the girls.

We wore them a week ago and I only had one pocket sewn on each one. This time we have two pockets each.

I actually sewed my 3 year old’s pocket to the side and it hung funny. I didn’t realize it until we were 2 1/2 hours away at my aunt’s house! Grandma and a seam ripper to the rescue.

I’d like to include a special thank you to my wonderful husband you took time out of working on his remote control airplane – on a holiday even – to snap these pictures. Isn’t he wonderful! ;)

Hope all of you have a great day!
