Wit & Wisdom from my Journey through Womanhood
I was wondering why my husband kept leaving his belts on the floor after he changed. It was so unlike him to not hang them up.
I figured it out when my 2 year old came up to me with one wrapped around her waist. “Tie me, Mommy.”

My almost 2 year old hardly gets her bibs messy. So I usually don’t put one on her.
This past week we had several dishes with sauce or ketchup so I tied a bib on her “just to be safe.”
She came away from the table with the bib clean. The rest of her dress was red spotted, but her bib and shirt underneath it didn’t have a thing on it.
How does she do that?
Guess I’ll have to use a full body apron for the messy munchkin.
My three year old thinks they do. She wore hers for 24 hours straight – even under her nightgown. It’s white, lacy, silky, and has a pink bow. She always dances after she puts it on. At least she says it’s dancing.
I was helping her get changed this morning and I just started laughing. “Did Daddy let you keep your slip on?” She replied, “I just did it, Daddy didn’t know.”

These are the rest of the skirts I wore this week. I didn’t really do favorites – just the usual. Most of my favorite skirts are winter ones; I like the fake suede and velvet skirts I have.
The yellow flowered is a work skirt. When I needed separates for nursing after baby number three I cut down a worn dress into a skirt. The patch pockets on it come in handy.
For church on Wed. I wore the light tan with blue flowers.
On Friday my husband and I went shopping in the morning, I sewed through the afternoon, and in the evening we went to a kids birthday party so the green/blue skirt with pink and yellow flowers worked out well.
The navy on the right is actually one of my split skirts that I wear for biking and various other things. It is a type of denim, but has flowers that make it more feminine. [Here's an aside - I try to limit the number of times I wear denim. There is nothing wrong with wearing denim. My husband wears denim a lot; so I like to wear softer materials to be more feminine. ]
This last skirt is one of my Sunday skirts. It is comfortable, fun, and looks nice – who can beat that! To prove the fun part I included one of me “twirling.”
Well, it was interesting to try to remember to take the pictures of my skirts, but I don’t think I’ll do it again soon. A couple times I “cheated” and put them back on the next day for the picture. Kudos to my husband for being the man behind the camera.
I’m joining Rachel in this celebration by showing what skirts I wore this week. It was actually started by Daughter at Home on July 31. So I’m a little late…
The following is what the author of Daughter at Home wrote and why I would like to join in on the fun!
Okay, I admit, I love skirts. I believe in modesty, and that entails (I believe) women wearing skirts or dresses. However, I don’t wear skirts begrudgingly, all the while wishing I could wear something else. I don’t wear skirts because I have to, but because I love to!
So, the point of this post isn’t to talk about modesty or to discuss the ‘dresses only position’… but rather as an introduction to “Celebration of Skirts Week“.
On Sunday, August 5, 2007 I wore a pink dress – guess that doesn’t count.
Monday I wore this light weight cotton multi-colored skirt. It is great to hide spots from little hands. On Monday I ran errands, grocery shopped, swept and mopped the bathroom, kitchen, and dining room, took care of the kids, etc.
Tuesday I wore the denim skirt. This one usually gets worn once a week. It’s from the thrift store; I sewed the slits shut and hemmed it.
Today was office work, a tiny bit of house work, and some garden work.
I’m including a picture of me climbing out of the pool so you can see my swim skirt. It is a split skirt that I made out of a navy blue knit material which
doesn’t cling as bad as cotton. Recently I put some elastic in casings that go around my calves; that just seems to help it not float up. This private pool (at my in-laws) is 3 1/2 feet deep around the edges and 4 1/2 feet deep in the middle. We swim as a family and have a great time!

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
