Stuck In An Elevator At The Sheraton Before Relevant

It was before the Relevant Conference even started! We were in a couple groups of ladies talking – just like it happens any time you get bloggers together – and we moved into the elevator. Started moving from the third floor and stopped at the 5th. Stuck.

We called the hotel desk first because Teri Lynne had the number in her phone already. They asked why we had 9 ladies and a baby when the sign says no more than 6. We said, “What sign?” There is a sign on the main floor between the elevators, but obviously we didn’t see it! It’s not like we purposely packed the elevator. There was not a sign on the 5th floor and there was no sign in the elevator. We were in there for an hour and we would have found it if there was one – for sure.

Trying Not To Forget Anything While Packing

suitcasesI used to be a good packer. I don’t remember ever forgetting something significant when I went to summer camp, sleeping over somewhere, or even vacations with the family. That has changed a bit in the past twelve months, and I’ve got to break the bad streak.

When we went North Carolina I forgot the adult toothpaste. Thankfully I remembered our mouthwash because the kid’s toothpaste really didn’t make my mouth feel clean.  I also forgot our Bibles! It was a funny feeling to sit in church and look up the verses on my iPod. I don’t know if they thought we were hi-tech or just weird.

Leaving My Kids

my 3 kidsMy children all went in the church nursery from birth to age 3, they have spent a week at their Grandma’s house without me, even had occasional sleepovers with a friend. I had never dropped them off at a daycare, school, camp, or anything like that-until the end of last month.

On Thursday, June 22, 2011, I left my 5, 6, & 8 year old kids with virtual strangers. Sounds brutal when I say it that way, and I certainly had my qualms. All the other times it was people that I’d known for a long time. Don’t worry – everything turned out ok.

Weekend In Baltimore

My husband and I headed a couple hours south Thursday evening – in and out of rain as we went up and down mountains. When we arrived the nice lady at the Marriott desk upgraded us for free!

Health and Social Media

I was able to attend BlogWorld because of a scholarship from Johnson & Johnson. They planned a social health track that was all about the field of medicine and how it interacts with new media. The most inspiring session was from epatient Dave. In 2007 he was diagnosed with kidney cancer and given 24 weeks to live. Obviously he’s lived longer than that because I listened to and met him at BlogWorld 2010.

Here is a video about the social health track that I made with the help of 2 friends. They also received scholarships to BlogWorld and we had a good time there.
