Thirsty Ducks

Even though they have a whole pond to drink from…

…they like the water in the paint tray better!

It’s Spring and the Ducks Know It

Recently my munchkins and I got ready to go to the library.  I sent the kids out first as I usually do.  They came running back saying, “Hurry Mommy!  The boy ducks are attacking the Mommy!”

My munchkins ask enough questions as it is.  I was not going to explain that behavior.

“Just get in.  They’ll move when I start the truck.”

The ducks are welcome to use the same nesting spot as last year.  I just wish they’d keep their behavior clean when they’re in our driveway!

If I Could Speak Duck…

No, you can’t swim here. This is our section.

I want to swim with you. Let me have a turn in this spot.

Stop fighting. Share the water, there’s lots of it. Be good and leave me alone for 15 minutes to take a bath and eat a little bit.

P.S. This is the first nest of ducklings that now live on the pond.

P.S.  This is the second nest of duck eggs hatched here this summer.  This Mommy Duck is actually the daughter of the Momma Duck I posted about previously.
