We signed the papers for our new house on Thursday afternoon and Friday night I invited guests over. Crazy? Maybe. Fun? Oh yea! She was on her way back to South Carolina the next day so I said, “Come and see what we bought.” She’s been friends with my husband and I since elementary school and if she was my friend through the braces, glasses, and puffy hair stage an empty house won’t scare her away. Plus – She brought me my first housewarming present!
Video From MckMama
This “vacation” I’ve been lousy with many normal vacation things. I had good intentions to have the kids send postcards…totally forgot. I brought along school reading books and math facts…totally forgot.
I do have awesome stories about the Blissdom Conference. I do have a big list of improvements for this site and Simple Vlogging Tips.
I did get a video for my friend. She doesn’t have a blog – she’d rather take pictures than write – but she reads MckMama and other great blogs [like this one
]. She rallied our church to pray for Stellan. She kept us updated and activated the prayer chain at crucial times. She has never had the chance to meet MckMama, but I did since MckMama was one of the keynote speakers at Blissdom. [Read more...]
Thank You Online Friends
I know that I’ve talked about online friends before, but it still amazes me how I can feel like I know a person I never met. I know that I don’t really know them, but I do know quite a bit about them. Know what I mean? [Just couldn't help it - I knowingly did it.]
Monday mornings I think about it more because I stay off the computer on Sundays. Today the line from You’ve Got Mail is running through my brain, “What will NY152 say today?” Except in my case it’s “What will my friends say today?” Maybe it’s on Twitter, on their blogs, through e-mail, or MomTV.
When I get to meet some of them in real life it is so exciting! And guess what! I’m going to meet Courtney and several other wonderful ladies at Blissdom ’10! Even more exciting… I’m speaking for the vlogging workshop on Thursday! I’m so excited…and nervous…and what am I going to wear!?
Did I mention that I’m excited?
Right now the plans are for my whole family to go and stay in a condo. My husband managed all right with the kids last year while I was at the conference. He’s even more confident about it this year. He’d like to show me the zoo this year. I’m sure I’ll keep you posted [pun intended] about our trip.
Meanwhile, thank you for being my friend. Thank you for reading this blog. Thank you for connecting with me through comments and other ways. You make my online world so much better.
Summertime And The Sittin’ Is Easy
Last week my friend and I got to sit a bit and watch our kids ride bikes. The weather was nice – not too hot or cold. It’s pretty easy to watch the kids right now because they can all walk, get in and out of their riding toys, and make the riding toys go forward and backwards. Some years we had to constantly get kids unstuck, block the drop offs & hills, push them around, or put them in and out of different toys.
We were able to actually carry on a conversation. So what if it was punctuated with short sayings such as, “Share that bike! Don’t push. Your turn is done. Put your shoes back on.” I’m pretty used to interrupted conversations. We’re pretty good at continuing after the child is taken care of.
It was another ordinary time that I want to remember because someday it won’t be ordinary any more.

Meeting An Online Friend
While on Twitter I noticed that @JennFowler was in my neck of the woods. I begged asked her to meet with me and she agreed! Lunch at Panera was a great bonus. We easily chatted about blogging, making money, doing reviews, all the pertinent stuff going on in the blogosphere. An hour flew by and we had to get going. Being the bloggers that we are we propped my Flip on a tea canister and shot a short video.
It really bugs me that I didn’t turn the camera more towards Jenn. [The last video that I shot I had to redo a couple times because I was off center. I'm wondering if I banged my Flip around one too many times and knocked the lens slightly askew.]
Jenn featured me in my first Twitpic too. If you like to read blogs about frugality check out her blog called Frugal Upstate.
