A Decadent Prison

Once again I read book number two without reading book number one.  Something I never would have done in high school!  A Prisoner of Versailles by Golden Keyes Parsons is an intense book set during the start of a turbulent time in history.  I understood what had happened previously and was not confused, but once again the book didn’t totally end.  It is waiting for a sequel.  There is so much that could still go wrong – or go well – only Mrs Parsons knows.  I’ll be keeping my eye out for the next one in this Darkness to Light series.

The main heroine, Madeleine, is a Hugenot with ties to Versailles and the court of King Louis XIV.  He is definitely anti-Hugenot.  She has already fled Versailles twice.  Can she make it out again?  The character of Madeleine is real; I felt like it could be part of a biography.  I feared for her and felt for her as she fought physical and spiritual battles.
