What Kind of Quirk Do You Have? Husbands Not Included.

The first definition of Quirk according to Answers.com is as follows:

A peculiarity of behavior; an idiosyncrasy.

Six Quirky Things

I was tagged for this meme by Cyndi at Modern Christian Homestead.

The obligatory rules:

  • Link to the blogger who tagged you.
  • List the rules.
  • List your six quirks.
  • Tag 6 others.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Starting with the least quirky of the quirks I thought of. Probably right after I post this I will do something that will blow these quirks away….oh well…

Alphabet6. Alphabetical order. I’m not overly crazy with it, my spices are mixed up and my books are usually in categories by size; but if it’s a typed list it really should be alphabetized.

5. Lists. Shopping lists, to-do lists, packing lists, things to look up lists, books-to-find lists, … I love lists! [I think a lot of ladies are like this, but when I told my husband that a lot of people make lists he said, “No they don’t!"]

4. Clean computer desktop. It’s bugging me as I speak type because I had to change the settings for the kid’s game and it threw the shortcuts out of whack. They should be lined up, similar ones together, with those that haven’t been used recently deleted. It doesn’t matter if my physical desktop has mounds of papers balanced precariously on top of CDs while pens roll around. My computer desktop must be clean and neat.

3. Little things on glasses that sit on your nose. I think they are called nose buds. Whatever they’re called, I can’t stand them. Not on regular glasses or sunglasses. Do you know how much that limits my choice of glasses?!

2. Being breathed on. If I can feel breath on my skin I will move. If it’s on my clothes, that’s A-OK. I just don’t want to feel your breath on my skin.

And my number one quirk…
hair 1. Twirling my hair. It’s probably more of a bad habit than a quirk. During high school and the early years of marriage I did not twirl my hair. Then I got pregnant and I was emotional, tired, emotional, anxious, emotional, getting big, etc. The twirling returned. It’s always a piece of hair from the upper left side of my head slightly back from my ear.

Now I get to tag people! Who should my victims be? How about…

  1. Chel at Chasing Contentment, who constantly reminds me to be happy and content.
  2. Katy at The Country Blossom, who has a joy that shows and a knack for decorating country-style.
  3. Janet at Daily Provision, who is great with lists and just posted a great Thursday Thirteen.
  4. Kara at Garden Vines, who is also waiting for her new house and just started a garden blog.
  5. Katina at Cherish the Moment, who is super busy with her kids and definitely keeps her blog true to life.
  6. Terri, my real life friend who doesn’t have a blog, just a son that gives her great blog fodder – like when he put Vaseline all over himself and her bed. :) She does have a Flickr site. Terri, you can leave your quirks in the comments – if you dare.

If anyone else wants to play along just let me know and I will give you some link love.

Other meme’s I’ve done:

  1. Getting to Know Me – an e-mailed list of questions
  2. Another About Me Survey – 55 questions guaranteed to be different
  3. A Christmas Meme
  4. Who Are You Meme
  5. Six Non-Important Things – What can I say? I was tagged.

Six Non-Important Things

I’ve been tagged. Anne at From My Perspective threw the ball right at me. [I used to love ball tag. Hey, maybe I should use that.]

The rules for this meme are:

  1. Link to the person that tagged you. [done]
  2. Post the rules on your blog. [working on it]
  3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. [soon to start]
  4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. [Do I have to?]
  5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website. [not a problem]

Okay, here goes…

1. If you ask me what my favorite color is I will say, “Depends on what it’s for.” I like the color red, but only as a color. I like to decorate my house with greens and beige [sounds better than tan]. I don’t want a red vehicle either. I like yellow birds and purple flowers. Rich fall colors more than spring.

2. I love old musical videos and older Broadway songs. Examples: Gene Kelly, Astaire and Rogers, Howard Keel, Doris Day, Kathryn Grayson. I’ve had people tell me that I know a lot of songs. This would exclude rock bands and new pop songs. On those I’m terribly unknowledgeable. The only person I know that is pretty equal to me in this is my husband. Yes, he will watch the musicals with me. He’s so nice! He might only watch it once, but that’s once more than some guys I know.

3. I’ve never flown. Never been off the ground. In anything. This will change in 2008. I wouldn’t even mind a hot air balloon ride. If you’ve flown a lot and love it please don’t tell me. If you don’t like to fly please don’t tell me, because I am going to fly in 2008.

4. I love to make arrangements of songs. It’s so fun to make a hymn arrangement for another instrument and the piano. I’m not saying they are any good. I like them. The church people haven’t complained; at least not in my hearing. It’s also fun for me to edit video footage. Do you think there’s a correlation?

5. I strongly dislike mowing grass – especially with a pushmower. If I would have had a pre-nup that would have been in it, for sure. Before I agreed to marry him he reassured me that I would not have to mow our grass. I will rake, pull weeds, spray for bugs, even weed-whack. Hmm…maybe I could just weed-whack the whole yard instead of using a pushmower.

6. My favorite Bible heroine is Esther. She got to be queen! Seriously, she was thrown into a dangerous situation; handled it admirably with God’s help using the background of knowledge she had in her life; and knew that she was used by God. Did you know that the word “God” is not found in the book of Esther?

There’s my six terribly unimportant things about me, myself, and I. Now to pick my victims…I don’t know who to pick. How ’bout you? Yes, you. Let me know when you post your list and I’ll give ya some link love.

Seven Blogosphere Events

There’s some exciting stuff coming up in the blogosphere and on this site!  At least it’s exciting for me; easily amused, I know.  Beats Dirty Diapers.

Seven Blogosphere Events

  1. Sarah at Real Life tagged everybody who reads her post.  [Be careful.  If you link through you will be tagged too.]  It’s a random 7 Things Meme that she turned into 7 Things You Can Do To Help a Fellow Blogger.  Now I turned it into Seven Bloggy Events.
  2. The Bloggy Giveaways Carnival will start January 28.  [I need to get sewing!]  I’m working on a new page for my site that I want to have up by then.  I would tell you about it ahead of time, but then I’d have to kill you.
  3. The Big Bloggy Move participants will be listed at After A Cup of Coffee or Two on February 11.  If you scroll down a little you can see their sidebar button.  If you have a new/redone site since December you can join.  I’m in!
  4. The Ultimate Blog Party at 5 Minutes For Mom starts on March 7 so I have a little time for that one.
  5. I contacted Mandie at Life in the Craft Lane about some graphics.  I’m getting excited now!  She has lots of freebie graphics of buttons and things.  If you have a country theme on your blog you especially need to check out her site.
  6. Crystal at Biblical Womanhood is having a Gift Certificate Giveaway – $100 for Vision Forum.  This ends January 28.  She also mentions that Vision Forum is having a 20% -40% off sale for their products.  Plus, because I just told you about it I can have a bonus entry.  Thank you very much.
  7. There is always, always, always, giveaways and contests in the blogosphere. Laura William’s Musings frequently hosts contests.  Chryll’s Corner is having a Mid-Winter Giveaway. 21st Century Christian has a giveaway page; right now it’s a book.   There’s a Homeschool Weekly Book Giveaway at Heart of Wisdom Blog.  Plus many more that I just don’t have time for because my husband wants to use the computer.  I should be a good example and share, I guess.
