Send A Postcard. Support Our Troops

thanks

I appreciate the U.S. Military personnel.  Today Faith sent me the link for an easy way to let them know that I appreciate them.

Xerox will send a postcard to the troops for you.  It only takes a couple clicks to pick a postcard and a message.  I did it in less than 3 minutes and I wrote my own message instead of picking one of theirs.

There’s a section to read replies from the troops as well.  Check out the Let’s Say Thanks site.

Memorial Day

memorial_day2A big thank you from our house to anyone in the military and their families!

Due to the holiday and our different schedule my regular post will be postponed.

It is such a blessing to have freedom and choices!

Sunday Poem ~ New Army

The author of this poem is a good friend of ours.  My husband and I were his youth leaders during his high school years.

He joined the Marines and moved to Arizona.
Sadly, reports came back east that he was not living for the Lord.
Due to some accidents he was medically discharged from the Marine Corps.

Recently we have joyfully seen him get saved.  He is now working to turn his life around and live a life pleasing to the Lord.

He shared the following poem with us during his Christmas visit.

New Army

The Corps was once 100% of me
I was so very blind, not even realizing I couldn’t see.
But one day God found me,
Picked me up and set me free.
Semper Fi was once the rule,
My mind dirty and my actions cruel.
But I was rescued from Hell
Heard Heavens bells,
Put down the M16 shells and rotten smells.
To follow the Captain of the Heavenly Host,
And serve the King of Kings is my boast.
To fight for Him is what I strive to do most,
Tie Satan to a post
And leave him for dead like a burnt piece of toast.

The cross is my new banner,
I’ll follow it in a faithful and holy manner.
Christ is my Captain; I’ve surrendered my life to Him,
The best thing I’ve done since I’ve been dragging my life through sins
Dark pits of despair
And the devils evil lairs.
But Jesus pulled me out
And sent me on my way
So I can triumphantly shout
Along my merry way
Of His life and how He did pay
The price for sin with His very own life
To end the death, sinning, and strife.
But we all rejected the gift of God
Spat on His face and over Him trod.

But I’m in a new army now,
Walking and talking, showing others how
To be saved from death and sin.
I live a new life from within,
Making Jesus my next of kin.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
I have a new mission the orders are cut.
Round up the devil,
Kick him in the gut,
Send him to the morgue.

I’m holding the cross higher than the Corps,
Traded my rifle for the Living Sword.
I fight for the King
March onward as I sing
Of His great gift to us
Through His blessed son, Jesus.
Old things behind me, new things ahead.
The reason for everything is the blood that He shed.
We praise His holy name,
All the way from Heaven He came,
To suffer unbearable pain,
And take the weight of all our shame.

E-mail Our Troops!

The Gratitude Campaign

One of my nephews is going to boot camp Monday and his parents sent this to me through e-mail.

Watch the movie here about using a sign to say thank you to a person serving our country.

Don’t worry about turning on your sound.  It just plays slightly nasty music.

Let me know what you think.  Good idea? Bad idea?  Would you do it?

Do you say/have you said ”thank you” to military personnel that you meet in a public place?  Could you tell us what the military people think of this?
