We signed the papers for our new house on Thursday afternoon and Friday night I invited guests over. Crazy? Maybe. Fun? Oh yea! She was on her way back to South Carolina the next day so I said, “Come and see what we bought.” She’s been friends with my husband and I since elementary school and if she was my friend through the braces, glasses, and puffy hair stage an empty house won’t scare her away. Plus – She brought me my first housewarming present!
New Home Owners
We did it! We wired money, signed stacks of paperwork, and got the keys to our new house! We actually pulled the trailer full of stuff behind us to the realtor’s office so we could immediately go to the house and unload after closing. [Surely we're not the only ones that have ever done that, right? Oh well.] The trailer is now empty and ready for another load. My wonderful husband even has one bedroom taped off and the ceiling painted. Woo-hoo! In this video I tell you a bit about the painting plans:
House For Sale
I’m sure this video will just soar to the top of the charts. Ha. Ha.
Doesn’t everyone want to see a video of an empty house?
Well, here it is just after we moved out.

My Children Keep Me Sane and Make Me Crazy
My children make my life ten times more challenging; but they bring me the greatest joy.
Moving, even daily life, would be so much easier without three preschoolers.
BUT
They are the reason I keep going right now.
They are not super kids; just normal kids with normal ups and downs.
The smiles, hugs, and “Wow, Mommy!” make my weariness ease a bit.
They are happy with simple sunshiny days, beds to sleep in, and bologna with cheese.
They don’t worry that the dishes are in boxes, the socks are who-knows-where, and the cell phone battery is dying.
Maybe they are worth those 9 months of pregnancy.
Sunday Poem ~ Home Ties
We planned and built our home, we two,
With every thought that it would do
For us, until the children grew…
When we could find another place
With grander view and much more space.
But oh, we did not seem to know
That childish laughter lingers so
Within the walls, and firelight’s glow
Paints pictures we cannot forget
While friendly voices echo yet,
That with the trees we planted here,
The flowers we grew from year to year,
The dogwood spreading ever near,
The promise found in fruitful loam,
We found we’d planted ties of home.
