Make Tab Curtains Without A Pattern

Make Your Own Curtains

My son wanted horse curtains and they are expensive to buy. Instead I used a 50% off curtain at the fabric store and made them myself.

FYI: This post has 18 pictures and a lot of words.

This is my “pattern.” It’s wrinkled from being carried around in my purse and clenched in my hand while shopping for material.
measurements for curtain

First measure your window vertically and horizontally. The general rule to determine how much material you need is to take the width of your window times 2 or 2.5. That will give your curtain the extra drape it need to look nice. So I needed 2 panels 45 inches wide. Since material comes in 44 inches I just needed to figure the length I need.

To determine the length needed: Subtract the length of the tab from the length of the window. Add inches for the hem at top and bottom. Take that amount times 2 and that is the length of the yardage you need.

My Bedroom Is Purple

I painted my room dark purple and I love it.

Two walls are plain and two are faux painted. I tell you all about it in the video.

An Ode To My Dishwasher

Disclosure: I’m not even pretending that this is any kind of literary work. It’s just for fun.

Or washing in pairs.
Just loading when e’er it’s convenient!

My sink feels glad to know you.
The drying rack is happy too.
Their load is much lighter!
We can see them more often.
The towel even softens.
All because the dishes you are washing!

How To Remove Stickiness Left From Contact Paper

I have shelf paper laid and things put away in all of my top kitchen cabinets, but the bottom is still empty. My husband plans to put new counter in this weekend so I didn’t want to fill them up just to empty them again.

The previous owner used contact paper – there might not have been shelf liner at that time. But did she have to wrap it over the front edge and 2 inches under the shelf?!? That adhesive is sticky! In the video I tell you what I tried to get it off.
