My verdict is still out on Siri Mitchell’s books. I’ll just have to keep reading.
A Heart Most Worthy was interesting, but not riveting. I liked her A Constant Heart, but didn’t care for Love’s Pursuit. She is definitely a good writer and I’m amazed at the different eras and areas she uses. They always seem well researched with lots of information in the book and more included at the end. It is written from a narrator’s point of view, and I didn’t care for the way it told me how I should be thinking. I guess that’s the rebel side of me coming out. Tell me what you see, but let me form the opinions. It was worse in the beginning, but mellowed out in the middle.
The 3 heroines in this story are all Italian, but very different. The central place of the story is Madame Fortier’s dress shop. Each girl’s life is changed or helped to change by events that surround the dress shop; I believe that each change was for the better. Of course! It’s a fiction book, right? The heroes are just as varied with each being genuine hero material; I think I fell in love with the doctor myself.
