Missions Of Mercy Trilogy By Susan May Warren

I’ve read  - and liked – Susan May Warren’s books before and I like the Love Inspired Suspense books so I signed up for this book tour right away. Because they sent me three books I added my thoughts after each book description. I liked them. They didn’t stand out as awesome or awful; just good stories.

About The Mercy of Missions series:

Three heroes, all on missions of mercy, who discover that God not only saves us from evil, but from the darkness inside.

Point of No Return (Love Inspired Suspense) An American boy and a warlord’s engaged daughter have disappeared-together-in an Eastern European border country. Only one man can find them in time to prevent an international meltdown-Chet Stryker. But Chet is taken aback when he realizes the boy is the nephew of Mae Lund, Chet’s former flame. When Mae insists on rescuing her relative herself, Chet knows he has to protect her from the enemy on their trail. Yet can he protect himself from falling for Mae again?

My thoughts: not sure what to think. A lot of specific details about the Georgian countryside and more. A woman pilot that was kicked out of the army, a special forces soldier that left the army, and American teenager, the CIA, and a terrorist group. I like the religious references. There is definitely more emphasis on the talking than the action.

Susan May Warren Is An Amazing Author

I loved the fun cozy mysteries that she wrote withheroine PJ Sugar. Sons of Thunder by Susan May Warren is totally different! I am truly amazed at how well she writes in different styles.

It was definitely not a happy, fluff book. It is an intense story that shows the rougher side of life.  It starts with murders, goes to seedy mafia business; then broken hearts, war, and undercover deceit.

The underlying spiritual lesson is God’s ability to forgive and help us forgive.  It is clearly demonstrated by one of the main characters. The story show the bad sides of many people, and the ability for God to deliver. [Read more...]

Double Trouble and iPod Giveaway

I was excited to read Double Trouble (PJ Sugar)by Susan May Warren because I read the first one, Nothing but Trouble, and loved it. The second one was just as good – if not better because PJ Sugar is not feeling so guilty or confused.  She is loving her PI work, most of the time. She still has some issues to deal with, as well as two men to decide between.

I really enjoyed…. [Read more...]

Nothing But Trouble

I read suspense occasionally, westerns rarely, historical fiction often, romantic comedy a lot, but I really enjoy a good cozy mystery. Susan May Warren’s new book titled Nothing but Trouble (PJ Sugar Series #1) is better than good!

It has all the classic cozy mystery elements: a busy single girl, one dead body, a friend in trouble, and 2 guys that are interested in the single girl.  Then it has it’s own unique elements: Russian in-laws, one dead goat in the back of the car, a strict pre-school academy, and no pizza delivery.

PJ Sugar knows three things for sure:1) After traveling the country for ten years hoping to shake free from the trail of disaster that’s become her life, she needs a fresh start.

2) The last person she wants to see when she heads home for her sister’s wedding is Boone – her former flame and the reason she left town.

3) Her best friend’s husband absolutely did not commit the first murder Kellogg, Minnesota, has seen in more than a decade.

What PJ doesn’t know is that when she starts digging for evidence, she’ll uncover much more than she bargained for-a deadly conspiracy, a knack for investigation, and maybe, just maybe, that fresh start she’s been longing for.

It’s not fair to say that trouble happens every time PJ Sugar is around, but it feels that way when she returns to her home town, looking for a fresh start. Within a week, her former teacher is murdered and her best friend’s husband is arrested as the number-one suspect. Although the police detective investigating the murder—who also happens to be PJ’s former flame—is convinced it’s an open-and-shut case, PJ’s not so sure. She begins digging for clues in an effort to clear her friend’s husband and ends up reigniting old passions, uncovering an international conspiracy, and solving a murder along the way. She also discovers that maybe God can use a woman who never seems to get it right.

Nothing But Trouble has a great ending, but Susan May Warren left some loose ends hanging and I’m eagerly awaiting the next PJ Sugar book.
