Sunday Poem | Thanksgiving Prayer

thanksgiving pumpkin Lord, behold our family here assembled. We thank Thee for this place in which we dwell; for the love that unites us; for the peace accorded us this day; for the hope with which we expect the morrow; for the health, the work, the food, and the bright skies that make our lives delightful; for our friends in all parts of the earth…

Give us courage, gaiety, and the quiet mind. Spare to us our friends, soften to us our enemies. Bless us, if it may be, in all our innocent endeavors. If it may not, give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temperate in wrath and in all changes of fortune, loyal and loving one to another.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our much anticipated holiday breakfast is almost ready. The apple crisp and sweet potatoes are ready to add to my in-law’s table. You should see me cut the cranberry sauce – takes skill, I tell ya. The sleet is coming down outside, but my family is all here with me.

May your Thanksgiving be as happy as mine!

I’m Having a Happy Thanksgiving!

Just popping in to say hello, Happy Thanksgiving, and yes I know I my blog design is a mess right now.  That’s a story for another day…or never because I was stupid and it’s embarrassing…

Today we had Praise Service at church and I absolutely, positively, L-O-V-E Praise Service.  It’s from 9-10 AM with singing, testimonies, and psalm reading.  All children are in the auditorium and it’s ok if the little ones wander, and today we had a bunch of little ones!

Then we had a great meal.  My husband liked my apple crisp.  Next off to bed for nap time!  Can life get any better?!

Now my husband is watching football and all the kids are with him.  I’m havin’ some great me time.  Oh yea!

I’m half waiting for the kids to come back to me because this is my husbands one time a year that he watches football.  We have no TV in our house so Thanksgiving day is all about him and football.

This quiet is terrific!  Maybe I should arrange another time for him to watch football. ;)

Sunday Poem ~ Prayer of Praise

Trees in the Forest, Dolly Sods Wilderness, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia, USA by Panoramic Images

Thank You for the golden rays
Of sun that turn our nights to days,
That warm the air, the streams, the sod,
And turn the wanderer back to God.

For melodies that fill the air,
The love and tenderness that come with Thy care;
For the golden hues and colors bright
That give us courage to walk in the night.

Thank You for friends so loyal and kind,
For loved ones dear, and peace of mind;
For a house of God to worship in,
But most of all for forgiveness of sin.

Thank You for the golden hours,
The days, the years, that bloom as flowers
They weave a golden fleece to throw
To those we love were’er we go.

Father, this is my prayer of praise,
And may I never cease to raise
My voice in humble thanks to Thee
For Thy love so dear to me.

Sunday Poem ~ Thankful

          I’m Thankful

It’s eight o’clock…I thank the Lord,
He kept me through the night.
I pray His Spirit guides me,
So I may do what’s right.

It’s ten o’clock…I love Him so,
His love and mercy are great.
It’s time to stop and praise Him,
And on His presence wait.

It’s five o’clock… I praise His Name,
He took me through the day.
In safety He has kept me,
Gave strength along the way.

It’s eight o’clock…I’m thankful,
For every need He’s met.
I know that I’m protected,
And by His love I’m kept.

It’s ten o’clock…the day has passed,
He’s been my faithful Guide.
I sleep in peace and know at morn,
He’ll still be by my side.
