Weekend In Baltimore

My husband and I headed a couple hours south Thursday evening – in and out of rain as we went up and down mountains. When we arrived the nice lady at the Marriott desk upgraded us for free!

How We Order At Restaurants

I think we have a good system when we go out to eat as a family.

At a sit down restaurant we usually pick what sodas we want first.
When the drinks arrive we put in the kids meals.
In a minute or two we put in the adult orders.
The kids don’t have too long to wait, and we can help them get started before our food comes.
My husband and I eat a lot quicker than the kids so we finish about the same time.

It works well unless the waiter/kitchen is slow. Monday night we stopped at a Perkins and everything was thrown out of whack by the slowness of the waiter and kitchen.  All 3 kids were finished by the time our food arrived.  The food was great; the timing was lousy.

If we were just out locally for the night it would have been no big deal.  Since we were on our way to New York it was annoying because we had a couple more hours of travel.  Maybe restaurants could have a section for locals and non-locals.

It wasn’t a problem when we drove south.  They knew we were just traveling through as soon as we opened our mouths.

Do you have any tips for eating out with kids?  Leave me a comment – I’d love to hear them!

I’m Still Sane After Our Car Trip!

I think.  I hope.  Ask me later – my answer might change. That was a long car trip. Maybe because I was expecting it to be terrible it went ok. More likely that it was the prayer that helped.

Here’s the nitty, gritty details.

It’s Our Second Honeymoon!

Watch Out For Stowaways

It’s time for my first airplane trip. We leave/left the house at 8:00 AM EST.

I’m so excited, and so nervous.

All day my mind was swinging back and forth. “I can’t wait to go. How can I leave the kids? I’ll be glad to have a break. I’m going to miss them so much. I’m excited. I’m scared. I’m happy. I’m nervous. I’m all packed. I’ve got a headache.”

I’d count it a great blessing if you would pray that we have safe and uneventful traveling in the air and by car. We will drive 2 hours to get to our condo after we are on 3 different planes.

And pray that our kids will be good and the babysitters won’t hate us by the time we return.

“I’m leaving on a jet plane…” Your welcome for the song stuck in your head.
